In 2001, Allianz Life, an established company with over 100 years of history in Minnesota, moved to their new corporate campus located in Golden Valley, MN (at the intersection of I-394 and Xenia Avenue). The Allianz Campus is a quality work environment that expresses the Company’s commitment to its employees, customers and the community. The design reflects the shared values of the company: friendly, efficient, family-oriented, clean, energizing and fun.
The buildings and ramp structures are a cohesive combination of a stone and glass building with emphasis on quality landscaping and preservation of green space. The building design conveys an image that is classic and timeless, conveying trust and stability. Daylighting, openness and connectedness are emphasized in the building’s design.
The 10-story granite and limestone-clad
building houses approximately 1,800 employees. The upper body of the building is finished in a warm beige Minnesota stone, with white stone accents and generous windows. The building’s base is finished in a combination of grey, white, and polished black granite with clear glass that conveys an open and friendly image at
ground level.
All guests and employees enter the building through a granite-paved three-story glass lobby. The lobby or “Town Square” provides access to the primary public spaces including the boardroom, holding company, employee support service area, locker rooms, gift shop, 500-seat cafeteria and a large training and video conferencing center.
The typical office floors are planned so that all high-walled offices are located at the core of the building, providing ample daylighting at the perimeter. The office floors have 10-foot high ceilings and a predominantly open environment where daylight is accessible by everyone.
The office floors are on raised access floors to accommodate changes in telephone, computer, power and other high-tech equipment. To improve bandwidth, fiber-optic cable and UPS power are run to switches housed in the open office furniture system. To reduce future costs and improve flexibility, each floor contains two separate communication and power rooms. The 15,000 sf Technology Center, located on the 5th floor, serves as the telecommunication data processing hub for the campus. In the event of a power outage or surge, the Technology Center can stand alone and continue operating via redundant power and cooling systems.
