Radio
Road is a 720 square foot specialty retail store that is part
of a new retail area on Concourse F of the Minneapolis – St. Paul
International Airport. The store was developed by CBR Incorporated,
the owner, with Architectural Alliance. Radio Road is a women’s
clothing venue featuring today’s casual, classic, relaxed clothing
in soft, natural fabrics. The Radio Road assortment includes unusual
and distinctive pieces as well as functional clothing that people
live in. The store’s design embodies this blend of quality, elegance,
and practicality through a neutral pallet of khaki’s and tans,
clear maple fixtures, and black accents that creates a simple,
uncluttered presentation. Radio Road customers step out of their
busy, on-the-go schedules into a comfortable environment reminiscent
of an old train station.
The
store design’s simplicity is accented by carefully chosen signature
design elements such as a vaulted sky light and oversized, openwork
iron wall clock which create a feeling of nostalgia. These features
and the store’s distinctive atmosphere and will help reinforce
the brand as the concept is developed at airports across the country.
Taken
together, the Radio Road concept and design bring the best elements
of sophisticated contemporary retail to the airport environment.
The store concept, which has also been implemented at the Pittsburgh
International Airport, is intended to be a branded store
for implementation at multiple Airports
around the US.
