toto
is a 900 square foot specialty retail store that is part of a
new retail area on Concourse F of the Minneapolis – St. Paul International
Airport. The store was developed by CBR Incorporated, the owner,
and Architectural Alliance. Designers used a high level of quality
materials and design concepts to differentiate and elevate toto
from traditional airport retail.
At its core, toto is a trend
gift store that features an ever-changing, eclectic assortment
of the most unique offerings. Merchandise from classic to trendy
is presented in more than 20 distinct themes that showcase, “the
most current, must have” giftware. toto features an upscale environment
that reflects today’s sophisticated tastes. Walls of eggplant
purple and bay leaf green complement cherry wood fixtures accented
with frosted glass. Custom designed carpeting augments a comfortable
yet high-end experience. With its open storefront and welcoming
signage and displays, the store goes the extra mile to attract
passengers. This is particularly important as travelers typically
have a multitude of other things on their mind besides shopping.
Yet, if they pause, they are likely to realize they have some
extra time on their hands. Likewise, the store is thoughtfully
laid out to allow ease of movement. This is critical as a large
portion of customers may have hand luggage.
The concept, which
has also been implemented at the Pittsburgh International Airport,
is intended to be a branded store with multiple locations designated
for airports around the US.
