Blue Cross requested that Architectural Alliance develop a master plan that would integrate two adjacent buildings with
their existing RiverPark campus. The two single story office-warehouses
were organized around a shared central truck court. Upon Blue
Cross purchasing of this property, Architectural Alliance developed
a phased plan that linked the two 110,000 SF buildings together,
centralizing the employee amenities, including a full service
cafeteria, fitness center and conference center.
The
Phase One renovation included the construction of a glass link
that bi-sects the existing truck court, creating a broad pedestrian
street at the inner side of the large floor plate. The ‘street’
carefully buffers the open office area from the common space activities
at the heart of the building. At the center of the building the
truck court was converted into a secure outdoor garden for employees
to view and enjoy.
The
renovation continues to be praised by Blue Cross staff. The large
contiguous floor plate provides extraordinary business group flexibility,
while the careful layering of space has created an effective and
enjoyable work environment.
